01. NOOK

At Nook Studio, we transform the mundane into the extraordinary through meaningful connections with materials and intentional design.

Our journey began with a shared vision to create products that resonate with the heart, focusing on minimalism and the intrinsic beauty of materials, particularly wood.

We explored diverse inspirations, ultimately focusing on vessels for plants, stationery holders, and coasters. Air plants, requiring minimal care, became a central theme.

We refined our "C"-shaped vessel design through testing, combining layered veneers and copper for function and aesthetics.

Branded as Nook, our elegant packaging embodied emotion and genuine connection. At the Polygon pop-up, positive feedback affirmed our vision of transforming ordinary materials into extraordinary, heartfelt designs.

This collection of furniture is designed to create a cohesive environment that fosters tranquility and connection, drawing inspiration from Asian meditation culture. Each element, crafted from cherry wood with warm tones and natural beauty, complements the others to form a harmonious ensemble. Thoughtful details, such as low-to-the-ground seating arrangements and a special perch for dogs, contribute to an atmosphere of serenity. The novel joinery technique seamlessly connects each piece, enhancing the sense of unity and wholeness. Together, these pieces create a space where both humans and their furry companions can find peace and contentment, emphasizing the collective experience of well-being.

The platform I've created is a versatile canvas that adapts to its content, guided by the preferences and needs of both myself and my dog, who sets the benchmark for its design.

Emphasizing simplicity, movement, and comfort, I drew inspiration from Japanese joineries and traditional tatami and futon mats. This project reflects my personal style and the journey of meticulous planning, ensuring informed and deliberate decisions. It embodies an inclusive environment that prioritizes functionality, comfort, and accessibility.

As I continue to build upon this foundation, I'm excited to explore new possibilities and innovations, creating personalized sanctuaries that resonate with both humans and their pets.

To design harmonious environments that
blend functionality, comfort, and serenity for
both humans and their furry companions.

ESTATE OFFICE

I had the privilege of leading the development of signage, design, and branding initiatives for a real estate office named "A Spring Day," where the objective was to strike a balance between professionalism and a heartwarming ambiance. Working closely with the client, I meticulously crafted clean, simple, and modern visual elements while ensuring that the project remained within budgetary constraints. This often involved numerous trips to Ikea and creatively repurposing existing office furniture. From conceptual mockups to the execution of spatial interior design, I was involved in every stage of the process, ensuring consistency and coherence throughout. Effective communication with lighting technicians, signage companies, and other collaborators was crucial in bringing the vision to life.

From conceptual mockups to the execution
of spatial interior design, I was involved in every stage of the process, ensuring consistency and coherence throughout. Effective communication with lighting technicians, signage companies, and other collaborators was crucial in bringing the vision to life. Witnessing how the signage interacted with users, and the beauty of the shadows it casted at sunset, was particularly rewarding and added an extra layer of depth to the project. While acknowledging areas for improvement, I take pride in every step of this journey and am excited to bring the blend of professionalism and approachability showcased in this project to my portfolio.

PART 1
Perfect perch

In my proposal for Grounded, I aimed to address the common challenge of dogs yearning for a view from windows by crafting a perfect perch for independent window adventures. With features prioritizing comfort and engagement, PawView invites dogs to live life independently in a stress-relieving and playful environment. Through interdisciplinary exploration and collaboration, I've developed a tangible solution for pets and owners alike, providing every dog with a window to the world .

PART 2

Platform for everyone

Modularity, a cornerstone of my design approach, facilitated adaptability and versatility by breaking down creations into modular components, granting users the ability to customize and rearrange spaces.

Joinery techniques, inspired by Japanese craftsmanship, ensured both structural integrity and aesthetic cohesion through meticulously crafted joints, enhancing durability and visual appeal.

Simplicity, a guiding principle, prioritized clarity, elegance, and efficiency in design, allowing materials and form to shine without unnecessary ornamentation.

Comfort
, paramount in my process, was addressed through ergonomic considerations, tactile qualities, and sensory experiences, creating inviting environments conducive to relaxation and well-being.

Inspirations
-Jeju Island-

In my project, I've stayed true to my personal style,
influenced by my experiences traveling in Korea,
particularly on Jeju Island, where I found inspiration in
spaces catering to both human and canine needs.
These experiences shaped my focus on modularity,
joinery, simplicity, and comfort in design.

Broken Nature

Using Adobe Illustrator,
I'll craft a series of panels illustrating the decline of bee populations and its impact on ecosystems. Each panel will depict the importance of bees in pollination, the interconnectedness of plant life and food security, and the consequences of their decline, employing typography, color, and creative illustration techniques to convey complex information in a visually engaging manner, aimed at raising awareness and inspiring action.

Workshop

"Exploring the Future of Prosthetics:
A Workshop on Cognitive Design and Innovation"

In this workshop, we aim to delve into the realm of cognitive design and innovation by envisioning the future of prosthetics. As a highly respected company dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and human enhancement, we recognize the importance of anticipating future needs and challenges. With the rapid advancement of technology and the evolving landscape of human experiences, it is crucial to explore novel solutions that address emerging issues and enhance quality of life.

Through collaborative efforts among engineers, designers, and artists, participants will engage in a creative exploration of potential prosthetic innovations. By examining a series of societal issues and identifying areas where prosthetic technology can make a meaningful impact, participants will form interdisciplinary groups to conceptualize and prototype prosthetic solutions tailored to specific needs.

The workshop will challenge participants to think critically about the future of human-machine interaction and consider the incorporation of advanced sensory capabilities into prosthetic devices. From tongue sensors for pollution detection to glasses that discern moral character, the possibilities are endless. By encouraging participants to push beyond conventional boundaries and embrace speculative design, we aim to stimulate thought-provoking discussions and inspire innovative solutions.

Awareness

By fostering a collaborative environment and encouraging diverse perspectives, this workshop seeks to raise awareness about the potential of prosthetic technology to address future challenges and enhance human capabilities. Through hands-on exploration and creative ideation, participants will gain insights into the intersection of technology, design, and human experience, fostering a deeper understanding of the opportunities and ethical considerations inherent in cognitive design.

Ultimately, this workshop serves as a catalyst for future-focused innovation, empowering participants to envision a future where prosthetic technology plays a transformative role in shaping human potential and societal progress. Together, we will embark on a journey of exploration, imagination, and discovery, charting new frontiers in the field of cognitive prosthetics.

MAP to Work

During my time at the Eric Carle Art and English Academy, I had the chance to craft a vibrant map that reflects my daily bike journey to work. Using Adobe Illustrator, I simplified the details to give it a playful, whimsical feel, while also adding a caterpillar inspired by the main character from Eric Carle's beloved children's books.

By infusing the design with elements that resonate with Carle's iconic style, I aimed to capture the essence of his work while adding my own creative twist. Through careful color choices and design techniques, I transformed my routine into an engaging and cheerful visual experience.
