ERIC CARLE
ART + ENGLISH

As an art teacher, I had the opportunity to engage in a dynamic and creative teaching environment. The teaching system I worked within followed a structured yearly and monthly lesson plan. Each month, we utilized two children's books to guide our lessons. Teachers collaborated monthly to plan art activities that aligned with the themes and learning objectives of the books. These themes included body parts, food, marketplaces, emotions, animals, aspirations for the future, family, and more, tailored to the content of the books.

This collaborative planning process was both a creative and strategic endeavor. It required quick thinking and flexibility, as the actual classroom experience often deviated from our plans. Adapting to these unpredictable moments and finding solutions was a key part of the job, making each class a unique problem-solving opportunity.

Teaching art to children aged 4 to 10 was an unforgettable experience. It allowed me to share my art expertise while helping children learn English through creative activities. The interaction with students and the ability to witness their growth and creativity were immensely rewarding. The experience honed my ability to think on my feet and provided a full creative outlet, making it a significant and cherished part of my professional journey.
